Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

The law protects confidentiality between a psychologist and a patient, and Michigan law provides a detailed protocol by which confidential health information is protected. Dr. Kroemer's office is fully HIPAA-compliant, ensuring that information cannot generally be disclosed without your written permission.

Exceptions include:

• If child abuse or dependant adult/elder abuse are suspected, this is required by law to be reported to the appropriate authorities. 
• If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, both the police and the intended victim(s) must be informed.
• If a client intends to harm himself or herself,  every effort will be made to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate,  further measures, even without their permission, may be taken as provided by law in order to ensure their safety.
